The festival symbolises new beginnings, love, compassion and thankfulness and uses water as a means of spreading joy. During this New Year celebration, everyone \u2014 from children to their grandparents \u2014 can be seen enjoying and taking part in the events throughout the Namsai district.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/arunachaltoday.live\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/IMG-20220415-WA0015-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-106\" srcset=\"https:\/\/arunachaltoday.live\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/IMG-20220415-WA0015-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/arunachaltoday.live\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/IMG-20220415-WA0015-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/arunachaltoday.live\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/IMG-20220415-WA0015-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/arunachaltoday.live\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/IMG-20220415-WA0015.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the most important traditional ceremonies observed during this auspicious time is&nbsp;Son Nam Phra, the washing of Buddha statues. Scented water is poured over the hands of the Buddha and sprinkled on his images to seek blessings. Younger members of the family pour water over the hands of the elders to show their respect while celebrating Sangken.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein along with MLA Namsai Chau Zingnu Namchoom and MLA Lekang Jummum Ete Deori joined the celebration of mega Sangken festival with the revelers at the Kongmukham (Golden Pagoda), Tengapani here today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Extending his best wishes, Mein prayed for good health, bumper harvest, happiness and prosperity of all humankind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He said that there is no dearth of talents in the state. To nurture, encourage our youthful &amp; creative talents, in this year\u2019s budget the government has kept the provision for the \u2018Arunachal Achiever\u2019s Award\u2019 to recognize notable achievements in the fields of Arts &amp; Culture, Literary, Science, Innovation, Entrepreneurship &amp; Sports.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Tai Lai community from Manipur, the Tai Khamyang from Assam, the Tai Phakey community also took part actively in the festival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The duo of Chow Oupseng Namchoom and Anong Singpho mesmerized the crowd with their newly released Sangken song.(DCMO)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>NAMSAI, April 15: Sangken, the water festival is being celebrated from 14 to 16 April this year.
