NAMSAI \/CHAMPA, Dec 27: A tragic fire incident in Champa village under Jaipur Circle of Namsai district destroyed a stilt house completely, leaving the family homeless. Property worth several lakhs was reduced to ashes in the incident, however no human casualties were reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The house, owned by the late Babul Sungkrurang, was home to his wife, Anima, and their four children. At the time of the incident, the family was away at their farm, preventing any possibility of salvaging their belongings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Firefighters responded to the emergency, but the village\u2019s remote location\u2014approximately 30 kilometers from the nearest fire station in Namsai\u2014hampered their ability to contain the blaze. By the time they reached, the house was already completely engulfed in flames.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While the exact cause of the fire remains unknown, preliminary assessments suggest it may have been triggered by a short circuit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Circle Officer- Jaipur circle Janakho Tingwa visited the site to provide support to the affected family. She confirmed that a detailed assessment of damages has been completed and assured the family that relief will be provided as per disaster management norms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Villagers have raised serious concerns over the absence of a fire and emergency service facility nearby. They have appealed to authorities to set up a fire service sub-station at the Circle Headquarters to ensure quicker response times in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, villagers and church leaders have extended their helping hands in rebuilding the temporary house for the victim’s family<\/p>\n\n\n\n
