TAWANG, Jan 12:<\/strong> Thousands of residents, including monks, students, and public leaders, participated in a candlelight vigil to express solidarity with the victims of the devastating earthquake that struck Tibet on January 7-2025. The event, initiated by Tawang MLA Namgey Tsering, was held to honor the lives lost, those injured, and the many rendered homeless by the disaster.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The solemn march began from the Galden Namgyal Lhatse Monastery (Tawang Monastery) and concluded at Masang Dungyur Mani in Tawang\u2019s Old Market. Participants included the Abbot of Tawang Monastery, Shedling Tulku Thupten Tendar Rinpoche, monks from various monasteries, and representatives from all walks of life, including public leaders, social organizations, government officials, and local market bodies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Heartfelt condolences and prayers for the victims were offered at Tawang Monastery, led by MLA Namgey Tsering and the Abbot. The vigil symbolized a collective expression of grief and a prayer for healing for those affected by the disaster.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The earthquake, which struck a remote region of Tibet, claimed at least 126 lives, injured over 100, and left many homeless. Its tremors were felt across Nepal, Bhutan, and parts of northern India, causing widespread concern.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking at the event, MLA Namgey Tsering emphasized the importance of community solidarity in times of tragedy. \u201cThis march is a small gesture to show our support and prayers for the victims in Tibet. We stand with them in this difficult time,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
