ITANAGAR, May 12:<\/strong> In a strong move aimed at ensuring transparency, accountability, and public trust in policing, the Office of the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Itanagar Capital Range, has issued comprehensive directions enforcing a strict zero-tolerance policy against corruption across all police establishments and public dealing points under the Capital Region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The directive, issued by DIGP T. Amo(IPS), instructs all Superintendents of Police (SPs), Sub-Divisional Police Officers (SDPOs), Officers-in-Charge (OCs), and supervisory officers to ensure that every police station, district establishment, check gate, traffic point, police outpost, and related unit functions with complete professionalism, transparency, and accountability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As per the directions, police personnel have been strictly warned against compelling, coercing, or inducing any person to pay illegal gratification or bribes for police-related services. The order specifically prohibits any illegal collection of money for entry into Arunachal Pradesh without an Inner Line Permit (ILP), passage of trucks and vehicles through check gates, settlement of traffic violations outside lawful fines, registration or disposal of FIRs and complaints, release of accused persons, suppression or weakening of cases, police verification, enquiry processes, or any other police service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The DIGP stated that any involvement in corruption, extortion, abuse of official position, or illegal collection would be viewed seriously and would invite strict departmental as well as legal action against the concerned personnel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The order further directs all unit heads to conduct regular sensitisation programmes and briefings for officers and staff under their command to reinforce ethical policing practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, police stations and units may undertake collective public declarations affirming that no illegal gratification will be accepted under any circumstances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To increase public awareness, the directive also mandates the installation of clear and prominently visible notices at police stations, check gates, police outposts, enquiry and interrogation rooms, traffic points, and other public dealing locations, informing citizens of their rights and encouraging them to report any instance of corruption or misconduct.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
