ITANAGAR, Mar 30: The Arunachal Pradesh Union of Working Journalists (APUWJ) has strongly condemned the alleged fatal stabbing of former journalist Tasso Grayu (89) and demanded a fair probe and punishment for the culprit.
Grayu, a former editor of The Arunachal Times, was allegedly stabbed with a sharp weapon by an unknown person at Hari village in Lower Subansiri district on Mar 22 at around 8:30 pm. He succumbed to his injuries on Mar 24.
Although a relative of Grayu lodged an FIR at the Ziro police station on the same day of the incident, the culprit is still at large.
Expressing his condolences to Grayu’s family, APUWJ president Amar Sangno said, “We are deeply saddened by the death of Tasso Grayu and hope that the police will conduct a fair probe and apprehend the culprit at the earliest.”
Grayu was a first-generation octogenarian from the Apatani community and was known for his multi-talented roles as a journalist, entrepreneur, politician, and shaman.
He was the founder editor of The Arunachal Times and also worked in All India Radio as an announcer and translator.
