ITANAGAR, Dec 15: The Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Combined Competitive Examination (APPSCCE) 2024 prelims were conducted successfully today across 87 venues in 18 districts of the state. Over 17,000 aspirants appeared for the two-session examination, which is a crucial step toward ensuring transparency and fairness in the state’s recruitment process.
Secretary APPSC, Parul Gaur Mittal informed that, the prelims consisted of two sessions. Paper-I (General Studies) was held in the forenoon, with 17,286 candidates appearing, making up 76.04% of the 22,731 registered candidates. In the afternoon session, 17,009 candidates appeared for Paper-II (CSAT), accounting for 74.08% attendance.
To ensure the exam’s integrity, the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) implemented new measures, including a three-copy OMR sheet system, allowing candidates to take one copy home for their reference. The initiative has been widely praised as a step toward greater transparency. Other measures included deploying jammers at all venues, mandatory biometric attendance, and strict frisking at entry points.
The movement and handling of sensitive materials were conducted under strict security, with coordinators overseeing the process personally. All activities, such as the opening and sealing of examination materials, were recorded under CCTV surveillance. Question paper packets were opened in the presence of candidates, with two candidates serving as witnesses to ensure transparency.
Despite the rigorous protocols, two minor incidents were reported. In one case, a candidate did not return their OMR sheet, and in another, a PwBD candidate was caught with a mobile phone. The Commission has acted decisively, canceling the candidature of those involved and taking further disciplinary measures.
A 24×7 control room was established by the APPSC to address any queries or issues during the examination. This ensured that the process was conducted smoothly and on schedule, with strict adherence to entry timings.
Provisional answer keys for the examination will be uploaded on the Commission’s official website from the evening of December 16 to the morning of December 18. Aspirants will have the opportunity to challenge any discrepancies during this period. Result preparation will commence immediately after, and the final results are expected to be published within the week.
Secretary APPSC, Parul Gaur Mittal, expressed satisfaction with the successful conduct of the prelims. She thanked all officials, exam functionaries, and stakeholders involved in ensuring a fair and smooth process. “The successful completion of this examination reflects our commitment to maintaining transparency and accountability in public service recruitment,” she said.
The APPSCCE prelims 2024 underscore the Commission’s dedication to providing a secure and equitable platform for aspirants, paving the way for a fair recruitment process in Arunachal Pradesh.
