Drug Peddler Arrested in Ruksin, Heroin Worth ₹59,000 Seized

RUKSIN, 22 Dec: Continuing its crackdown on drug smuggling and peddling, the Ruksin Police arrested a drug peddler and seized 11.1 grams of heroin, valued at approximately ₹59,000, from his possession.

On 20 December 2024, acting on reliable information, police received a tip-off about an Eon car (Registration No. AS 01HC 3329) suspected of carrying drugs and heading to deliver the contraband near the AGAM Petrol Pump in Ruksin.

A team of police officers, led by Sub-Inspectors Igel Lollen (OC, Ruksin Police Station) and Yike Lomri (OC, Sille-Oyan Police Station), along with HC A.K. Doley, Ct. Robin Kopok, and Ct. Katin Mingki, was formed under the supervision of East Siang SP Shri Pankaj Lamba (IPS) and SDPO Ruksin Shri Talem Taggu (APPS).

The team successfully apprehended the suspect, identified as  Mishra Nath Padun (28), from Batua village in Dhemaji district, Assam. The suspect was intercepted at the designated site in Ruksin, and necessary legal procedures were followed.

In the presence of an Executive Magistrate, a search of the suspect yielded 11.1 grams of heroin, stored in an orange-and-white soap case. The contraband was seized, and a case was registered under Ruksin Police Station Case No. 15/2024, U/s 21(b) of the NDPS Act.

Another Arrest in Pasighat:

In a separate incident, East Siang Police arrested another drug peddler, identified as Kadum Tatin (26), son of Tate Tatin from Jarku, under Pasighat Police Station. Acting on a tip-off on 4 December 2024 about drug peddling activity in Pasighat town, police apprehended the suspect and initiated legal action.

The East Siang Police reiterated their commitment to taking stringent action against drug peddlers and urged the public to share information on drug-related activities without hesitation. Citizens are encouraged to report such cases to their nearest police station to help curb the menace of drug abuse and trafficking.
