Security Forces Nabs Two NSCN (IM) Cadres in Joint Operation at Changlang

CHANGLANG, Dec 26 – In a pre-dawn joint operation on Thursday, security forces apprehended two active cadres of the NSCN (IM) involved in extortion activities in the Rima area of Changlang district. Acting on specific intelligence inputs, the operation was executed collaboratively by 11 PARA (Special Forces), 10 Assam Rifles, and Changlang Police, under the command of Sub Mahesh Singh from 11 PARA (SF).

The operation commenced at 3:00 AM, targeting individuals reportedly extorting local businessmen and shopkeepers. The security forces successfully apprehended two active members of the insurgent group:

  1. SS Lt. Roney Rai alias Tutu (31 years) – Resident of Jairampur, Changlang.
  2. SS Sgt Maj. Anong Singpho (30 years) – Resident of Pengri, Tinsukia, Assam.

Items Seized During the Operation

  • .32 Pistol with 06 rounds of ammunition.
  • Nagamese sickle (Dao).
  • Wallet, PAN card, Tecno mobile phone, and a SIM card.

This successful operation underscores the unwavering commitment of Changlang Police and security forces to maintaining peace and ensuring the safety of local communities. By targeting extortion networks, the authorities aim to disrupt the financial and operational capabilities of insurgent groups in the region.

The apprehended individuals and seized items have been handed over to the Changlang Police for further investigation and legal proceedings.
