Longding Police Bust Drug Network, Seize Drugs and Cash

LONGDING, Jan 5: In a decisive move against drug trafficking under “Operation Dawn’, the Longding District Police seized a significant haul of drugs and cash during a series of operations conducted on January 4. Acting on credible intelligence, the operation uncovered heroin, cannabis, and over ₹97,000 in cash, leading to the arrest of three individuals.

The operation commenced at around 5:30 PM when police received information about an individual in Jibo Colony suspected of possessing and distributing contraband. A team led by Inspector Tukut Konia, Officer-in-Charge of PS Longding, along with ADC cum Executive Magistrate Shri M. Tato and other officers, conducted a search at the residence of Wangphai Pansa. Following procedures under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, the team seized 11.74 grams of suspected heroin, 345 grams of suspected cannabis, and ₹16,080 in cash.

Upon interrogation, Wangphai Pansa revealed links to two women in Pongchau village. The police team extended the operation to the residence of Anon Pansa, where they discovered two soap cases containing 22.90 grams of suspected brown sugar and ₹81,860 in cash.

Three individuals were taken into custody during the operation, Wangphai Pansa (32), a resident of Nginu village, Anon Pansa (28), a resident of Pongchau village,Ngamkhow Wangsa (42), also from Pongchau village.

A case has been registered at Longding Police Station (Case No. LDG/PS/01/25) under sections 20(b)(ii)(B) and 21(b) of the NDPS Act. SI T.W. Salingpa has been assigned to lead the investigation.

The entire operation was conducted under the close monitoring of DySP (HQ) and the direct supervision of SP Longding. The police have expressed their commitment to intensify efforts against drug-related activities and have urged the public to come forward with any information that could assist in future crackdowns.
