Deputy CM Chowna Mein Inaugurates Key Projects to Boost Connectivity, Tourism

WAKRO, Jan 12: Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein inaugurated several vital infrastructure projects in Lohit District, emphasizing improved connectivity, enhanced tourism, and preservation of the region’s cultural and natural heritage.

The inaugurations coincided with the commencement of the Parshuram Kund Mela 2025. Among the highlights was the unveiling of a newly constructed Guest House and Tulow Resort at Parshuram Kund. These facilities aim to cater to the increasing number of pilgrims and tourists visiting this revered spiritual site, blending comfort with cultural significance. This development is expected to boost the local economy and strengthen the region’s position as a significant tourism hub.

Deputy CM Mein also inaugurated the Glaw Lake Road and a Steel Bridge at Sena Brai, enhancing access to Glaw Lake, a picturesque destination popular among adventure enthusiasts for trekking. These projects aim to facilitate safe and seamless travel while preserving the natural beauty of the area.

During his visit to the Kamlang Tiger Reserve, Mein was briefed by the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) on the proposal submitted to designate the reserve as a Ramsar Site, a global recognition for wetlands of international importance. This initiative underscores the government’s commitment to safeguarding Arunachal Pradesh’s biodiversity and environmental heritage.

The Deputy CM also inaugurated the newly built Wakro Police Station, pledging to strengthen its operational capabilities by increasing manpower and equipping it with essential furniture and resources to ensure effective policing in the area.

Speaking to the media, Mein outlined plans to develop Parshuram Kund into a major pilgrimage site, ensuring adequate facilities for pilgrims and tourists. He also expressed his vision to transform Glaw Lake into a premier trekking destination while maintaining its ecological balance and preserving the rich flora and fauna of the Kamlang Tiger Reserve.

Deputy CM Mein was accompanied by several dignitaries, including Member of Parliament (Arunachal East) Tapir Gao, Advisor to the Minister of Health & Family Welfare and Commerce & Industries Dr. Mohesh Chai, Lohit Zilla Parishad Chairperson Dasula Krisikro, Deputy Commissioner K.N. Damo, Superintendent of Police Thutan Jamba, and Chief Engineer (PWD) Winam Manpoong, among others.
