RUKSIN, Mar 29: In a significant breakthrough in the fight against drug trafficking, the East Siang Police, under the ongoing Operation Dawn 2.0, successfully apprehended a drug peddler and seized approximately 17.08 grams of suspected heroin at Ruksin town.
Acting on credible intelligence about two individuals involved in the illicit sale of narcotics, the Anti-Drug Squad (ADS) of East Siang Police set up a surprise naka (checkpoint) at Ruksin. During the operation, the accused, Shri Dadi Ering, a resident of Napit, Pasighat, East Siang District, Arunachal Pradesh, and an associate from Diking, Pasighat, were intercepted and taken into custody.
The operation was led by ADS Incharge, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ayup Boko, with the active participation of Sub-Inspector Igel Lollen, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ruksin Police Station, and Sub-Inspector Y. Lomri, OC of Sille Oyan Police Station, along with other police personnel.

The search was conducted in strict adherence to the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, in the presence of an Executive Magistrate. A total of 17.08 grams of suspected heroin were recovered from the accused and seized in the presence of the Magistrate and independent witnesses.
Following the seizure, a case (Vide 7/25) has been registered at Ruksin Police Station under Section 21(b) of the NDPS Act, 1985. Both accused individuals have been arrested, and further investigation is underway.
Superintendent of Police, East Siang, Shri Pankaj Lamba, IPS, commended the efforts of the ADS team and reaffirmed the district police’s commitment to a zero-tolerance policy against drug-related offenses. He also urged the public to report any suspicious activities, emphasizing that community cooperation is crucial in ensuring a drug-free East Siang.
With Operation Dawn 2.0 in full swing, the East Siang Police continue their relentless pursuit against narcotics trafficking, sending a strong message against illegal drug activities in the region.
