Drug Peddling Racket Busted in Naharlagun, Three Arrested Under Operation Dawn 2.0

Naharlagun, April 28: In a decisive action against the growing drug menace, the Naharlagun Police have arrested three individuals, including two suspected drug peddlers, in a well-coordinated operation carried out under Operation Dawn 2.0.

The operation began with the apprehension of a drug addict near Kangkar Nallah Bridge on April 27 by a police team led by Inspector Krishnendu Dev, OC Naharlagun Police Station. The team included SI Vivek Linggi, HC Kanto Samyor, HC Lham Tsering, Constables Sanu T Raj, Idak Basar, Ganesh Upadhaya, HC Dusu Mali, HC K Mosi, Constable Thupan Dawa, and Lady Constable Dina Weyo. The raid was conducted under the supervision of SP Naharlagun Shri Mihin Gambo and SDPO Shri Rishi Longdo.

Based on the information revealed during interrogation, the police swiftly conducted a follow-up raid at Lower Model Village. Two individuals identified as Techi Lez (30), a resident of Lekhi, and Tana Jamja (28), a resident of Doimukh, were taken into custody.

In the presence of Executive Magistrate Shri Khoda Bath, the police recovered 16 vials of suspected heroin weighing approximately 20.9 grams, 11 empty vials, packaging materials, and ₹7060 in cash suspected to be proceeds from drug sales. The seized items were documented and processed in accordance with the NDPS Act.

A case has been registered at Naharlagun Police Station under NLG PS Case No. 57/25, invoking Sections 21(b), 27, and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. The arrested individuals are currently in police custody as investigations continue.

The Naharlagun Police have reiterated their commitment to a drug-free society and urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities as part of the ongoing campaign against drug abuse.
