BANDERDEWA, May 22: In a tragic incident reported today at approximately 1:54 PM, Banderdewa Police Station received a distress call from Tapik Colony, Karsingsa, informing that two individuals were trapped inside a ring well. Immediate assistance was requested, prompting a swift response from the police team.
‘Upon reaching the site, the team found two young men—Shri Riya Tago (23), son of Shri Riya Kano, and Shri Sosar John (23), son of Shri Poli Kaha—unconscious inside a ring well owned by Shri Riya Kano. Both individuals are residents of Tapik Colony, informed SP, Naharlagun Mihin Gambo.
The police, with the support of local residents, launched a rescue operation using ropes and oxygen support. The victims were successfully brought out of the well and immediately rushed to Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (TRIHMS), Naharlagun, for emergency medical care.

Unfortunately, despite all efforts, Shri Riya Tago could not be saved and was declared dead. Shri Sosar John, however, is reported to be in stable condition and is receiving medical attention.
Preliminary findings suggest that Shri Riya Tago had entered the well to clean it and lost consciousness due to a lack of oxygen. In a heroic attempt to rescue him, Shri Sosar John also entered the well and suffered a similar fate.

An Unnatural Death (UD) case has been registered at Banderdewa Police Station, and further enquiry is underway to determine the complete facts surrounding the incident.
