Namsai, Aug 3: The groundwork for the much-anticipated Poi Pee Mau Tai 2120 (2025) celebrations has officially begun with a successful preparatory meeting held today at the Chaupha Planglu Hochayan (Poi Pee Mau Ground) in Namsai. The meeting was conducted under the chairmanship of Er. C.S. Chautang, President of the Tai Khamti Development Society (TKDS), and was attended by members of various prominent Tai Khamti organizations and senior community leaders.
In a show of unity and shared purpose, the attendees unanimously selected key office bearers to spearhead the upcoming celebrations: President: Chau Sengkhun Manchey, General Secretary: Chau Khamoon Manpoong and Finance Secretary: Chau Silanam Moungkang

The meeting witnessed active participation from representatives of the Tai Khamti Singpho Council (TKSC), Tai Khamti Development Society (TKDS), All Tai Khampti Singpho Students’ Union (ATKSSU), All Namsai Areas Youths Association (ANAYA), and respected senior public leaders, highlighting the community’s collective commitment to upholding cultural traditions.
Poi Pee Mau Tai, the traditional New Year of the Tai Khamti community, is one of the most vibrant and culturally significant festivals in Arunachal Pradesh. The celebration not only marks the beginning of a new year according to the Tai lunar calendar but also strengthens the community’s cultural identity through traditional dances, music, rituals, and community feasts.
This year’s festival, marking the year 2120 in the Tai Khamti calendar, is expected to be a grand affair aimed at promoting cultural heritage, community unity, and socio-cultural development. The newly formed committee will soon begin preparations to ensure a meaningful and memorable celebration that resonates with the spirit and values of the Tai Khamti people.
