Rajiv Gandhi University Holds Patriotic Tiranga Yatra to Mark 79th Independence Day

RONO HILLS, Aug 13: Rajiv Gandhi University (RGU) today proudly organised a spirited Tiranga Yatra as part of its Har Ghar Tiranga campaign under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav. The initiative sought to inspire the university community to bring the national flag home and hoist it with pride in commemoration of India’s Independence.

Marking the 79th year of Independence, the yatra saw enthusiastic participation from students, faculty members, non-teaching staff, and university officers. The colourful procession began at the RGU Old Auditorium and concluded at the RGU Signage, with participants waving the tricolour and chanting patriotic slogans.

The event was graced by Vice Chancellor Prof. S.K. Nayak, Registrar Dr. N.T. Rikam, and Finance Officer Prof. Otem Padung, who joined the rally, adding to the fervour of the celebrations.

Speakers on the occasion emphasised the importance of unity, civic responsibility, and national pride, underscoring the Tiranga as a symbol of India’s hard-earned freedom and democratic ideals.

The Tiranga Yatra formed a part of RGU’s broader Independence Week celebrations, reaffirming the university’s dedication to fostering patriotism and encouraging active participation in nation-building efforts.
