Arunachal University of Studies Terminates Faculty Member, Extends Full Support to victim student in Sexual Harassment Case

NAMSAI, Sept 18: In the wake of the recent incident of alleged sexual harassment by a faculty member,the Arunachal University of Studies (AUS), Namsai, has issued a strong statement of solidarity with the student who recently accused a faculty member of sexual harassment, affirming that the institution stands “in unwavering support” of the victim student.

In an official clarification, Deputy Registrar Vipin Rawat confirmed that the incident occurred outside the university premises, at the residence of the accused lecturer, when the victim visited Namsai for appearing in an ATKT/Backlog examination.

The University’s Proctorial Board has taken swift and decisive action by terminating the services of the faculty member concerned. Additionally, AUS has assured that it is extending full cooperation to the Namsai Police to ensure a strong case is filed against the accused.

“We remain firmly committed to securing exemplary punishment in this matter, so that such a heinous act is never repeated. The safety, dignity, and well-being of our students are paramount, and we will continue to uphold the highest standards of accountability and justice,” the clarification letter stated.

Deputy Registrar further stated that, the University emphasized its zero-tolerance stance on such acts, pledging that strict accountability will be maintained to safeguard students’ dignity and security.
