SEIJOSA, April 9: Chief Minister Pema Khandu submits the proposal to de-reserve some forest areas for the development before the Union Minister Environment, Forest & Climate Change – Bhupender Yadav, MoS (E,F&CC)-Ashwini Kr Choubey here at Pakke Tiger Reserve, Seijosa during the inaugural session of the 20th National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) meeting on Saturday.
Briefing about the forest reserve of the state, CM informed that Arunachal Pradesh has one of the largest forest cover states in the country, however, due to some imprecise assessments, many inhabitant areas are being framed under Forest Reserve area due to which development works of the both central and state government are being halted.
While responding to the query, Union Minister Bhupender Yadav stated that there is a process for rationalization of De- reservation, and assured that the Ministry will give its full support for the de-reservation of some areas whenever the issues comes-up in the central government.
Earlier, he also appreciated the initiative of “Air Gun Surrender Abhiyan”. The initiative is one of the best efforts to conserve wildlife. Starting from Arunachal Pradesh, the campaign has become a movement and many other states have already adopted it, he stated.
When asked about, the decision for blacktopping in the ongoing PMGSY (Miao-Vijaynagar) road project in the jurisdiction of Namdapha National Park, MoS- Environment, Forest & Climate Change Ashwini Kr Choubey assured that, whenever a proposal comes for the development of Arunachal Pardesh, there would be a green signal from his end.
Among others, Minister Environment & Forest Mama Natung, Advisor to Minister cum MLA Kumsi Sidisow , Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar, Director General of Forest – CP Goyal, PCCF, Members of the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA) attended the meeting.
