AALO 19th Jan: The first ever Arunachal Pineapple Festival 1.0 was Organised by All Bagra Welfare Society in collaboration with Arunachal Pradesh Agriculture Marketing Board, Itanagar here at Bagra along National Highway on Friday.
Er. Tage Taki, Minister for Horticulture, Agriculture & Animal Husbandry graced the festival as Chief Guest and Okit Palling, CEO of Arunachal Pradesh Agriculture Marketing Board, GoAP as Special Guest and Er. Tumke Bagra, Minister for Industry, Textile & Handicraft etc.
Moji Bagra welcomes the visiting dignitaries. Tumke Bagra, Minister as a local MLA appeals to the festival committees to organize the next festival in Bango Level. Later on, he appeals to the farmers to be self-reliant by indulging more in Horticulture and Agri activities.
Palling CEO, as a special guest, said that the quality of pineapple is best and the area produced more pineapple. He further said that the product of Pineapple will be applied for GI certification in the near future. The festival is more important for the pineapple farmers to gain more knowledge of Pineapple and orange cultivation.
Taki as a Chief Guest inaugurated the various stalls and said that it is a historic day for Pushi Bango and the State of Arunachal that the first-ever Pineapple Festival is being celebrated. This Festival will motivate and encourage the local farmers of Horticulture. “Due to the declination of Pineapple growers the Nigmoi fruit processing factory was defunct,” He said. He appeals to the farmers of the Pushi Bango area to grow more pineapple for national and international markets so that the farmers can earn their livelihood.
Taki also appeals to the farmers to start a pineapple grower cooperative society for better business and sustainable development.
Lt. Tojo Bagra the first pineapple farmer was posthumously felicitated by Chief Guest as he started pineapple garden in Bagra area during the 1950s.
During the six-day festival w. e. f 19th Jan-24th Jan 2024, Sports events, musical events, demonstration of Pineapple/Orange food processing by KVK West Siang, demonstration of Pineapple value addition products will be showcased.
The Arunachal Pineapple Festival 1.O was attended by Mabi Taipodia Jini ADC i/c DC West Siang, Tumpe Ete ZPC West Siang, Marnya Ete President GWS, ZPMs, HoDs, Officers, Admin Officers, Nyali Bagra Organising President, Bomkar Bagra Organising Secretary and public’s.
The First day was added with colorful Mega dances and the selling of various local products and local cuisine and a walkway along the Sipu River and adventure parks attract the visitor.
On 24.01.24 Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh Shri Pema Khandu will attend the Pineapple festival.
