ROING, 1 Feb 2024: The Research Institute of World’s Ancient Traditions Cultures and Heritage (RIWATCH) inaugurated its Northeast and International museum wings today amidst a huge gathering. The two wings were inaugurated by Chief Minister Pema Khandu, Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein and distinguished delegates of the 8th International Conference of World Elders held at Dibrugarh.
In his inaugural address, Khandu thanked Vijay Swami, Executive Director, RIWATCH for his dedicated efforts in bringing ancient traditions of the world to a common platform through the concept of RIWATCH at Roing. He stated that ‘RIWATCH is nothing less than a treasure trove of our ancient traditions, cultures and heritage’. He added that, while going forward we should revive our lost traditions based on scientific research. He further promised to support RIWATCH by all means so that it continues to work for the promotion and preservation of the cultures, traditions, and heritage of Arunachal Pradesh.
Earlier, Swami while sharing his years of experience in documenting cultures across the state of Arunachal Pradesh stated that the importance of a museum like RIWATCH cannot be ignored as it showcases a captivating collection of artifacts, traditional crafts, and historical documents that narrate the story of not only the vibrant cultural heritage of Arunachal Pradesh, but also of the world. He urged the foreign delegates to establish the RIWATCH in their respective countries, paving our paths to establish the University of World’s Ancient Traditions Cultures and Heritage (UWATCH).
The presence of esteemed delegates from the 8th International Conference of World Elders added a global perspective to the inauguration. Few of the foreign delegates donated some traditional artifacts representing their country for the Museum’s International wing. Discussions during the conference are expected to explore avenues for cross-cultural collaborations and the exchange of traditional knowledge.
Two books titled “Devine Plants” by Nandini Dholepat and “In the Fabric of Culture” by Karabi Baruah were also released during the program.
The program was also attended by Mukut Mithi, Former Lt. Governor of Puducherry, Ninong Ering, MLA, Joram Begi, Chairman of RIWATCH, and members of various apex bodies and institutions of Arunachal Pradesh.
