ITANAGAR, 16th Feb 2024: e – challan machines were launched by Nakap Nalo, Minister of Transport at the State Banquet hall, Itanagar today marking the end of the 35th National Road Safety Month which was observed from 15th January to 14th February by the State Road Safety Lead Agency, the Department of Transport.

The Department of Transport launched e-challan machines with user-friendly features while covering all major functionalities of traffic enforcement system in collaboration with the State Bank of India and the National Informatics Centre. The Special Secretary, Transport informed the house that a memorandum of understanding had already been signed with the State Bank of India which had provided the state with 90 point-of-sale machines free of cost and an end-to-end solution had been provided by the NIC to integrate those machines with e-challan applications. The enforcement agencies have also been trained to use the machines.

“Every life is precious” said Nakap Nalo, Minister of Transport while addressing the gathering as the chief guest of the function. The Minister urged everyone present to take back the message of road safety and to create awareness at individual level. He also requested everyone to take the responsibility of road safety and not to depend solely on the government or the police and transport department.

20 medical kits were donated to the All Arunachal Pradesh Public Transport Federation by the Department of Transport.

The Nehru Yuva Kendra displayed skit and dance on road safety in local dialect creating awareness. Cash awards and certificates were also given to the winners of various competitions that were conducted during the entire month of road safety.

During the entire month, various activities creating awareness of Road Safety were conducted state wide in every districts. Activities such as free eye camps for public transport drivers, multiple MV checking, mass rally, road safety pledges, road safety marches, distribution of helmets to offenders, awareness programmes at colleges, distribution of pamphlets, inter-college quiz competitions on road safety.

            Among others, present in the function were the Chief Secretary, Dharmendra as the guest of honour, the Vivek Pandey, Commissioner Transport, Anand Mohan, DGP, Sachin Singhal SP Traffic, ICR, etc.
