ITANAGAR, May 14: In a significant breakthrough in the ongoing investigation of Itanagar WPS Case No- 20/24, Capital Police have apprehended six more individuals, including three pimps and three sexual assailants. The latest raid, conducted at a lodge on Zoo Road, Chimpu, has resulted in the rescue of one more minor victim girl, bringing the total rescued to five.
Shockingly, among the apprehended suspects are two uniformed personnel, one of whom holds the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police. This revelation adds a disturbing dimension to the case, underscoring the pervasive nature of the criminal network.
With these recent arrests, the total number of individuals detained in connection with the case has risen to twenty-one, reflecting the extensive reach of the illicit activities being investigated.
Superintendent of Police, Rohit Rajbir Singh (IPS) informed that 0n 11 May last Capital Police developed further technical and human inputs and identified the husband-wife duo who run a hotel by the name of City Hotel at Zoo Road Chimpu along with the manager of the hotel as another set of pimps who had pushed the rescued victim minor girls into flesh trade by arranging customers.
The police team also learned that the said accused persons have also trafficked one more victim minor girl, and the said girl is also a victim of a child sex trafficking ring. Accordingly, a raid was conducted at the said hotel and arrested Dulal Basumatary (52 years) from Udalguri, Assam who Runs a hotel named City Hotel at Zoo Road, Chimpu. He is part of the prostitution ring and finds customers for the rescued victim girls, providing hotel rooms so that the girls can be sexually assaulted. He is also involved in trafficking another girl Miss F (victim) and forces her to be part of the ring.
Another accused Dipali Basumatary (44 years) Address- Udalguri, Wife of Dulal Basumatary has been also arrested.
The rescued minor victim girl from the said hotel is one Miss F who is 15 years of age and comes from a poor family belonging to the native village of Dulal. She was being raised by Dulal and Dipali since a child and was forced into prostitution as soon as she reached adolescence. The girl has been shifted to Shelter Home and is presently undergoing medical care stated SP in the press statement.
Further, the police team also identified two assailants who had recently sexually assaulted the recovered minor girl Miss F, and the two assailants were also arrested accordingly.35 years old Constable, 1st AAPBn, resides at Ganga Village Itanagar, Saddam Hussain (26 years) Mason by profession, Originally from Dhubri, Assam presently resides at Lekhi Village, Nirjuli has been arrested
During the investigation another assailant DySP Posted at 1st AAPBn, Jollang, Itanagar who had sexually assaulted the previously rescued minor victim girls was identified and arrested and is currently in police custody, stated Singh.
