NAHARLAGUN , Dec 8: In a swift and coordinated interstate operation, Naharlagun Police successfully recovered a stolen TATA Yodha vehicle and apprehended three accused individuals involved in the theft. The operation, conducted with the cooperation of Assam Police, highlights exemplary teamwork and swift action in tackling vehicle thefts.
The case originated from a written complaint received on 07 December 2024, regarding the theft of a TATA Yodha vehicle from Model Village, Naharlagun, on the night of 06 December 2024. Following the complaint a case was registered at Naharlagun Police Station under Case No. 147/24 U/S 305(b) BNS, and an immediate investigation was launched.
CCTV footage played a pivotal role in the investigation, revealing three miscreants stealing the vehicle. By meticulously following the trail captured on various cameras and gathering intelligence through local sources, the stolen vehicle’s location was traced to the Bangalmara area in Assam.
Acting on the information, a team led by Inspector K. Dev, supported by SI S. Hodong, ASI T. Sarke, HC I. Ngomdir, Ct K. Lai, Ct Sanu Raaj, and Ct K. Samyor, coordinated with Assam Police. The operation was conducted under the supervision of SP Naharlagun, Shri Mihin Gambo, and SDPO Naharlagun, Rishi Longdo. Assistance from Laluk Police Station, under the leadership of OC Laluk PS, SI Milton Borgohain, was instrumental in the success of the operation.
The operation culminated in the arrest of three accused individuals:
- Md. Samirul Islam (22 years), s/o Abdul Latif
- Md. Alauddin (24 years), s/o Abdul Ali
- Md. Habijul Ali (27 years), s/o Rashid Ali
All three accused are residents of Besapati Karunabari village under Laluk Police Station in Lakhimpur, Assam.
The stolen TATA Yodha vehicle was successfully recovered and will be handed back to its rightful owner following due process. The outstanding support of the Assam Police in facilitating this operation is deeply appreciated.
