IMF Zonal Sports Climbing Championship 2025 Kicks Off at Roing

ROING, Jan 5: The picturesque town of Roing became the hub of excitement and inspiration as the “Indian Mountaineering Foundation (IMF) Zonal Sports Climbing Championship 2025″ was inaugurated today. Organized by the Indian Mountaineering Foundation (IMF) North East Zone, the event showcased the remarkable spirit of determination and resilience associated with mountain climbing.

Chau Zingnu Namchoom, Advisor to the Minister for Sports, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Addressing the gathering, he emphasized, “Mountain climbing is not just a challenge of strength but a celebration of determination and spirit.” He lauded IMF’s efforts in promoting sports climbing and nurturing the immense potential of youth in the North East region.

The ceremony was marked by the esteemed presence of MLA Roing Mutchu Mithi, MLA- Mebo  Oken Tayeng, Chairman of IMF North East Zone Kesang Ngurup Damo, and Deputy Commissioner of Dibang Valley  Smti Soumya Saurabh, IAS. Participants, students, and other dignitaries from across the region also attended the event, making it a vibrant and memorable occasion.

The championship aims to foster physical endurance, resilience, and teamwork among young climbers while providing a platform to showcase their talents. “Such initiatives inspire our youth to scale new heights and instill values of discipline and camaraderie,” said Shri Namchoom in his address.

The Indian Mountaineering Foundation has been instrumental in promoting mountaineering and sports climbing in the region, and this championship is a testament to its unwavering commitment.
