LIKABALAI, Jan 14: Lower Siang District witnessed a grand celebration of the two-day Makar Sankranti festival at Askashi Ganga, with over 5,000 Hindu devotees gathering to partake in the annual religious event. Holy baths began at 8 a.m. on January 14th and 15th, 2025, as devotees from across the country, especially neighbouring Assam, participated in prayers, rituals, and Prasad distribution at the sacred Askashi Ganga and Malinithan sites.
The festival, deeply rooted in Hindu mythology honouring Rukmini and Lord Krishna, was a joint effort by the District Administration and Malinithan Vikas Parishad. With meticulous arrangements, including security measures, medical coverage, and dedicated volunteers, the event ensured the safety and comfort of attendees, making it a resounding success.
