BORDUMSA/CHANGLANG, Jan 16: In a poignant loss for the community, Singpho Chief Bisa Lat Nong passed away last evening at his residence in Bisa Gaon, located in the Ledo area of the Margherita Sub-Division on Jan 14. Chief Bisa Lat Nong was highly regarded for his unwavering leadership and commitment to the Singpho community.
Duwa Bisa Lat Nong Singpho, a descendant of the unsung heroes of Arunachal Pradesh, Bisa Gum and Bisa Bom Singpho, stands as a revered figure among the Singpho people. A living legend, he has dedicated his life to fostering peace, harmony, and unity among various tribes in the region.
As the first President of the Shapawng Yawng Manau Poi, the Singpho ethno-cultural festival in India, in 1985, he played a pioneering role in promoting and preserving Singpho culture and literature. His unwavering efforts have left an indelible mark on the community’s cultural heritage.
In addition to his contributions to cultural preservation, Duwa Bisa Lathnong served as a Political Zamadar and Mozadar in the Tirap Transfer area and the Tirap Tribal belt in Assam. Through these roles, he cemented his legacy as a key figure in the history and development of the Singpho people.
