PASIGHAT, Jan 17: In a crackdown on noise pollution and illegal vehicle modifications, East Siang Police and Traffic Police- conducted a special drive across the district, seizing 78 illegally modified motorcycle silencers. Following the seizure, these silencers were destroyed on Friday at the Reserved Police Line (RPL) in Pasighat using a road roller.
The destruction was carried out in the presence of the Superintendent of Police (SP), Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), an executive magistrate, the traffic in-charge, and other police staff.
The silencers, which had been modified to produce excessive noise, were confiscated during a targeted operation aimed at ensuring compliance with traffic laws and curbing public disturbances caused by such modifications. The SP stated that the drive was part of ongoing efforts to maintain road safety and reduce noise pollution in the district.
Residents and commuters in East Siang have lauded the initiative, which underscores the commitment of the police department to enforcing the law and promoting a safer, quieter environment. The police have urged motorists to refrain from illegal vehicle modifications and adhere to traffic regulations.
