NAHARLAGUN, 17 Jan: Continuing fight against the drug menace, Naharlagun Police made another significant victory under Operation Dawn 2.0 by arresting a suspected drug peddler, Ngurang Sensu (20), and seizing 18 grams of suspected heroin during a late-night raid on January 14, 2025.
The operation was launched following a tip-off about drug activity in A-Sector, Naharlagun. A police team led by Inspector Krishnendu Dev, Officer-in-Charge of Naharlagun Police Station, and Sub-Inspector Vivek Linggi, supported by Constables Sanu Raj and B Mitkong, swiftly acted under the guidance of SP Naharlagun, Shri Mihin Gambo, IPS, and SDPO Naharlagun, Shri Rishi Longdo.
During the raid, police intercepted the accused and recovered 2.7 grams of suspected heroin from his possession. Interrogation revealed that additional contraband was hidden at his rented accommodation in Nyigam Colony. With the assistance of EAC Naharlagun, Shri Khoda Bath, a subsequent search of the premises led to the recovery of 12 plastic vials containing 15.3 grams of suspected heroin.
In total, the police seized 18 grams of heroin, valued at approximately ₹54,000 in the local market. The contraband was reportedly sourced from Assam and was intended for distribution within the Itanagar Capital Region, targeting vulnerable youth.
The accused has been arrested under Naharlagun PS Case No. 08/25 U/S 21(b)/29 of the NDPS Act. Initial investigations suggest the accused was part of a broader network supplying drugs in the region.
SP Naharlagun, Shri Mihin Gambo, IPS, commended the swift action by the police team and reaffirmed the department’s commitment to tackling drug trafficking. “Operation Dawn 2.0 is a focused initiative aimed at dismantling drug networks and protecting our youth. We urge citizens to cooperate and report any suspicious activities,” he said.
