BAGRA, Jan 22: The much-anticipated Arunachal Pineapple Festival (APF) 2025 began with great enthusiasm at Higi Bagra, with Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein inaugurating the event as the Chief Guest. Minister for Education and RWD PD Sona, attended as the Guest of Honour, while Smti Nyabi Jini Dirchi graced the occasion as the Special Guest.

Scheduled from January 22 to January 24, 2025, the festival celebrates the region’s booming pineapple farming and highlights its contribution to the local economy.
Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein lauded the dedication of the farmers and encouraged them to embrace organic farming methods instead of relying on chemical fertilizers. He stressed the importance of adopting sustainable practices and urged communities to refrain from hunting and fishing to protect the state’s natural resources. During the event, the DyCM honoured progressive farmers from the Bagra area and highlighted the potential of contract farming to ensure self-sustainable development. He also assured the festival committee of the government’s support in securing Geographical Indication (GI) registration for local pineapples and related products, a move expected to boost the market value of the region’s produce.

Minister Shri PD Sona underscored the economic potential of pineapple farming, describing it as the backbone of rural prosperity. He encouraged farmers to expand cultivation areas to meet growing market demands. Smti Nyabi Jini Dirchi, HMLA, and Shri Topin Ete, MLA, also delivered inspiring speeches, emphasizing the festival’s significance in promoting agriculture and cultural heritage.
The three-day Arunachal Pineapple Festival 2025 features a diverse lineup of activities, including exhibitions of pineapple products, traditional tribal cuisines, cultural performances, and sports competitions.
