NAHARLAGUN, Jan 26: The Naharlagun Police, as part of their relentless anti-drug campaign under Operation Dawn 2.0, have registered significant success in the last two days by apprehending four alleged drug peddlers, including a husband-wife duo, and seizing substantial quantities of suspected heroin during operations conducted in Naharlagun and Nirjuli.
In Naharlagun, a tip-off about drug peddling in the Prem Nagar area led to the registration of Case No. 15/25 U/S 21(a)/27/29 NDPS Act on January 25, 2025. Acting promptly, a police team led by SI Sunny Hodong intercepted a husband-wife duo, identified as Jomdam Ligu (32) and Smti. Kano Marde (24). A thorough search of their person and residence resulted in the recovery of 5.6 grams of suspected heroin. Further investigation unveiled links to another individual, Peter Kamdak (19), who was apprehended in Itanagar. An additional 4 grams of suspected heroin were seized from his residence during the operation.
In Nirjuli, the police launched another successful raid based on intelligence inputs. On January 23, 2025, a team led by Inspector T.M. Nekam, Officer-in-Charge of PS Nirjuli, conducted a raid at the residence of Dugi Bijoy @ Bhai (26). Although the accused initially evaded capture, the police seized 8.48 grams of suspected heroin, drug paraphernalia, and ₹15,900 in cash. Following sustained efforts, the accused was arrested on January 25, 2025, and subsequently produced before the Hon’ble Special Judge NDPS, Yupia. This operation was registered as Case No. 06/25 U/S 21(b) NDPS Act.
