BANDERDEWA, Jan 27: As part of the ongoing anti-drug initiative Operation Dawn 2.0, the Banderdewa Police achieved another significant success by apprehending two individuals with suspected heroin at the Banderdewa Check Gate. The operation was led by a team comprising SI Dekey Tayum, SI Koj Tada, and HC Tade Bomdom under the close supervision of SDPO Naharlagun, Shri Rishi Longdo.

During a routine inspection at the check gate, the team detained two suspects for a body search, which led to the discovery of seven vials containing 9.46 grams of suspected heroin. The seizure was conducted in the presence of independent witnesses. A case was immediately registered under BDW/PS/C.No.07/2025 U/S 21(b) of the NDPS Act, and both individuals were arrested for further investigation.

The suspects have been identified as residents of Lakhimpur and Itanagar, respectively. Their arrest underscores the police’s dedication to cracking down on drug trafficking and abuse in the region.

This operation comes shortly after another successful effort in Naharlagun and Nirjuli, where four suspected drug peddlers, including a husband-wife duo, were arrested on similar charges.

SP Naharlagun,  Mihin Gambo, IPS, commended the police team for their vigilance and reiterated the department’s commitment to eradicating drug-related crimes through coordinated and sustained actions under Operation Dawn 2.0. He called on citizens to cooperate with law enforcement in ensuring a safer, drug-free society.
