Four Interstate Drug Peddlers Arrested, 113.22g Heroin Seized in Twin Raids by Banderdewa Police

 BANDERDEWA,April 17: In a major breakthrough in the fight against drug trafficking, Banderdewa Police conducted two back-to-back operations on 16 April 2025, resulting in the arrest of four interstate drug peddlers and the seizure of 113.22 grams of suspected heroin. The operations were carried out as part of Operation Dawn 2.0, a sustained crackdown on narcotics across the region.

In the first operation, registered under Banderdewa PS Case No. 35/2025 U/S 21(b) NDPS Act, a naka (checkpoint) was set up at the Banderdewa check gate based on precise intelligence inputs. Police intercepted a scooty rider, identified as Dongja Kabak (39), a native of Raga in Kamle District, currently residing in Nirjuli. A search conducted in the presence of an Executive Magistrate and independent witnesses led to the recovery of 30 vials (weighing 39.67 grams) of suspected heroin from his possession.

In a follow-up operation (Banderdewa PS Case No. 36/2025 U/S 21(b)/25 NDPS Act r/w Sec 3(5) BNS), police raided a hotel near PTC Banderdewa after receiving credible information about ongoing drug activity at the premises. The raid led to the arrest of three more individuals — Vikash Doley (26), Biswa Morang (28), and hotel owner Smti Makan Doley (50). A hidden stash comprising 55 vials (73.55 grams) of suspected heroin and ₹14,060 in cash, believed to be drug proceeds, was seized during the search.

The operations were spearheaded by Inspector Kipa Hamak, Officer-in-Charge, Banderdewa PS, and executed by a joint team including SI S.K. Singh, SI Koj Tada, SI N. Bagang, SI L.P. Mema, ASI A. Rajbhar, ASI T. Kipa, ASI S.K. Jha, HC T. Bomdom, Ct. R. Tsering, and L/Ct. Kago Yamung, along with personnel from the 138 Battalion CRPF.

The raids were carried out in the presence of Executive Magistrate-cum-Circle Officer Smti Taba Milka and DySP Matin Ratan (Vice Principal, PTC), under the overall supervision of SP Naharlagun Shri Mihin Gambo, IPS, and SDPO Naharlagun Shri Rishi Longdo.

Over the past two weeks, ICR Naharlagun Police have registered nine NDPS cases and arrested a total of 19 drug peddlers, reflecting the administration’s intensified efforts to root out the drug menace from the region.
