Arunachal’s Hillang Yajik Shines Bright at 15th South Asian Bodybuilding Championship with Historic Gold For India

Itanagar/Thimphu, June 15: Making history for Arunachal Pradesh and the nation, Hillang Yajik has carved her name in golden letters by clinching one Gold and one Silver medal at the prestigious 15th South Asian Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championships 2025, held in Thimphu, Bhutan from June 11 to 15.

With this victory, Yajik has become the first-ever female physique athlete from Arunachal Pradesh to win a Gold medal at the international level, setting a new benchmark for aspiring athletes in the region.

In an official statement, Arunachal Bodybuilding Association (ABA) President Nabam Tuna hailed the achievement as a proud and inspiring moment. “Hillang Yajik’s triumph is not only a personal milestone but a proud representation of India on the global stage. Her dedication and perseverance have brought honour to the state and the nation,” he stated.

The championship, hosted by the Bhutan Bodybuilding Association, saw strong participation from several South Asian nations and was held under the banner of the World Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Federation (WBPF) and the Asian Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Federation (ABPF).

Yajik’s remarkable feat marks a significant step forward for women in strength sports, particularly from the Northeast, and is expected to inspire a new generation of athletes across the region.
