KHONSA, Aug 7: In a major breakthrough in the ongoing fight against drug menace, the Tirap Police on Wednesday conducted a successful raid and seized a large quantity of suspected heroin from Pinewood Colony in Khonsa town.
Acting on credible intelligence, the operation was led by OC PS Khonsa, Inspector Ngowang Rango, along with the police team comprising L/ct Motlom Matey, Ct Tingkap Wangsu, Meiphua Wangno, Tamkan Yangrin, Rimsong Ngemu, DVR Binwang Anyem, and a section of the 36 Bn CRPF Khonsa.

The raid, carried out at around 3 PM at the residence of Smty Somcha Kongkang, was conducted in the presence of the Town Magistrate (EAC), Smty Laxmi Dodum, and an independent witness. During the thorough house search, the team recovered four plastic soap cases containing suspected heroin, weighing a total of 150.8 grams, with an estimated market value of ₹1,50,000.
To ensure transparency and accountability, the entire search and seizure process was videographed using the e-Shakshya app.
Subsequently, an FIR was registered under KSA PS Case No. 15/2025 under Sections 21(b)/25 of the NDPS Act, 1985. Two individuals have been arrested in connection with the case:
Smty Somcha Kongkang, , R/o Lazu, Camp Pinewood Colony, Khonsa
Smty Somcha Lamkhu, R/o Lazu
The investigation is currently underway under the supervision of SI Sono Dodum.
