Assam Rifles & Arunachal Police Nab ULFA (I) Cadre in Joint Operation; Arms and Ammunition Seized

NAMSAI,Oct 26: In a major breakthrough against insurgent activities, the Assam Rifles, in a joint operation with Arunachal Pradesh Police, apprehended a ULFA (Independent) cadre from a dense jungle area under the Lathao Circle of Namsai district.

The arrested militant has been identified as Anup Dohotia alias Thousen Axom, a resident of Malum Boraiguri, Tinsukia district, Assam. Security forces recovered one MQ-series rifle, 151 live rounds of ammunition, and a bottle grenade from his possession.

According to sources, Dohotia was actively involved in the Kakopathar camp attack that took place during the night of October 16–17. His capture marks a significant success in the ongoing counter-insurgency operations in the region.

This development comes just days after one ULFA (I) cadre was neutralized by Assam Rifles in a separate encounter within the same district, underscoring intensified operations against the outlawed group along the Assam–Arunachal border.

Security forces have stepped up surveillance in the region to prevent further militant movement and ensure peace in the frontier district.
