186 CRPF Battalion Hosts Millets Mela, Promotes Healthy Living Through Tradition

NAMSAI, Jan 3: The 186 Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) organized a vibrant Millets Mela on January 3, at the battalion campus, showcasing the richness of traditional, nutritious and health-oriented food practices.

The mela witnessed enthusiastic participation from CRPF personnel and their family members, who set up a variety of stalls featuring innovative and delicious millet-based dishes. The colorful display and aroma of the dishes drew wide appreciation from visitors, underlining the growing importance of millets in promoting healthy lifestyles and sustainable food habits.

The scrutiny committee evaluated the participating stalls, and the results were formally announced at the conclusion of the event by the Second-in-Command of the Battalion,  Sandeep Sharma. The winning stalls will be felicitated during the Battalion’s upcoming Raising Day celebrations.

To encourage creativity, nutrition awareness and teamwork, five special awards were instituted during the mela: Griha Lakshmi Award, Dhan Lakshmi Award,Annapurna Award, Gyaneshvari Award, Utkrisht Jodi Award.

Beyond culinary excellence, the Millets Mela served as a platform to strengthen mutual cooperation, family participation and social harmony within the CRPF fraternity, reflecting the force’s commitment to holistic well-being.

The event was graced by Second-in-Command  Sandeep Sharma, Deputy Commandant  K.N. Haldhar, Deputy Commandant Saurabh Somvanshi, along with senior officers, jawans and their family members, making the occasion a memorable and meaningful celebration of health, tradition and togetherness, stated a release.
