NAMPONG, Jan 29: Assam Rifles & Police arrested one NSCN-KYA cadre Nayan Chakma and recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition from hathi camp of old Longchong ,Nampong on the night of 27 January.
Acting on in tip-off, regarding the involvement of Nayan Chakma with NSCN-KYA , Assam Rifles picked up the suspected cadre, and on questioning, he told about the cache belonging to NSCN-KYA hidden in the Longchong village.
Assam Rifles, police and GB of the village on searching the area recovered arms and ammunition from hathi camp. Later a pistol was also recovered from Nayan Chakma house. One Chinese AK, 2 – Magazine, AK rounds- 490, one pistol, a walkie-talkie, and wires were recovered during the search.
Nayan Chakma is the Cadre and also one over-ground worker Gangwang Wanglee involved through Nayan Chakma was arrested. Both have been handed over to the Nampong police station. Nayan Chakma was earlier also caught having involvement with NSCN- KYA in May 2022.
