Khonsa, Dec 16: In a shocking turn of events, former MLA Yumsen Matey, who previously represented the 56 Khonsa West constituency, was brutally killed by unknown assailants near Raho village in the Lazu circle. The incident occurred around 2 pm when Matey had gone to Raho village for personal business, accompanied by three workers.

According to preliminary reports, an unidentified individual separated Matey from his workers, leading him towards a jungle area. Approximately 30 minutes later, gunshots were heard by the workers, marking the tragic end of the former MLA’s life.

The incident has prompted swift action from law enforcement, with an FIR (First Information Report) being registered at the Lazu Police Station. Investigators are actively pursuing leads and gathering further details to ascertain the motive behind this heinous crime, informed PRO APP.

 Tirap police has also conformed the report of the incident and added that, police team has rushed to the spot of the incident to recover the body and to collect ground zero report.

Yumsen Matey was a well-respected figure in the political landscape, known for his dedication to public service. Recently, Matey had declared his candidacy, expressing his intention to resume his political career and contest election from Khonsa-West constituency.
