ITANAGAR, 1 Feb, 2024: The Arunachal Anti-corruption AAC has demanded, CM Pema Khandu, to resign from the office so that the investigation might go fairly without any intervention.
Addressing the press today at the press club, Convener cum Spokeperson AAC Birendra Tallong said, “The Supreme Court on Monday sought responses from the center, state government seeking a CBI or SIT probe to investigate CM’s family members”. The allegation was that the majority of the government contracts were handed over to a few selective firms belonging to the Chief Minister himself and his family members.
We have been following the case since 2010 said President AAC- Tarh Tubin. He further asserted that due to CM’s influence, they didn’t get any positive results. He also said that the investigation agencies can work properly only if the CM step down from his office and there is no pressure from any corner. We have submitted ample numbers of evidence in the SC which substantiates that huge scale of government contracts are allotted solely to the firms of family members of the Chief Minister and his close associates.
On being questioned whether there is any parallel with the previous allegation against ex-CM Lt. Dorjee Khandu for showing nepotism and favoritism Tubin said that this kind of nepotism and favoritism was from the time of the current CM’s father itself and it is still going on. He requested the public and the people of Arunachal to be united with them to fight against such cronyism.
While addressing the press Tubin expressed his trust in Chief Justice of India CJI Chandrachud to deliver Justice to the people of Arunachal.
