AALO, Dec 9: Chief Secretary of Arunachal Pradesh Manish Kumar Gupta (IAS),, and Commissioner of Urban Development, Housing, and Transport Vivek Panday (IAS), visited Aalo and inspected the garbage dumping ground at Hissam Village, as well as reviewed the newly arrived mobile legacy van designed for efficient garbage segregation and processing.
The high-level visit was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner -West Siang Mamu Hage (IAS), SSP Tumme Amo, and Heads of Departments (HoDs) from West Siang District.
The dignitaries also visited the Health and Wellness Centre at Darka Village and inspected the ongoing construction of the Mini Secretariat in Aalo. Their itinerary included participation in the “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam” tree plantation program at Nehru Chowk, symbolizing a commitment to environmental conservation.
Later, a detailed review meeting was held at the Deputy Commissioner’s Conference Hall, where DC Mamu Hage warmly welcomed the Chief Secretary and Commissioner. The DC provided an overview of West Siang District, emphasizing its vast potential in tourism, horticulture, and agriculture. She also updated the officials on the progress of major development projects, highlighting the district’s achievements and challenges.
SSP Tumme Amo informed the gathering about the formation of the District Community Police, an initiative aimed at curbing illegal activities, particularly drug trafficking. This community-driven program involves sector leaders and youth participating in night patrols alongside district police.
Departmental heads presented updates on various ongoing projects and shared concerns regarding issues disrupting development activities.
The Chief Secretary directed the Deputy Commissioner to organize drug awareness campaigns in schools and colleges to educate the youth about the dangers of substance abuse. He also praised the dedication of the officers and staff of West Siang District, commending their efforts under the leadership of DC Mamu Hage.
Meanwhile, Commissioner UD Vivek Panday assured the Urban Development Department of necessary support to improve garbage management in Aalo township, underscoring the importance of sustainable urban development.
The meeting was also attended by ADC HQ Ms. Mabi Taipodia, ADC Kamba Tamo Riba, ADC Yomcha, HoDs, and other administrative officers. (DIPRO)
