APSCW Team Visits Changlang, Engages with Students,Inspects De-addiction Center

Changlang, Jan 22: The Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women (APSCW) visited Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya, Maganton, under Raja Nagar in Changlang District to interact with young girls and spread awareness about women’s rights and resources.

Kenjum Pakam, Chairperson of APSCW, spoke with the students, explaining the powers and functions of the Women’s Commission. She emphasized the importance of one-stop centers and the women’s helpline available in various districts to assist those in need. Additionally, she reminded the students about the legal marriageable age for both girls and boys being 21 years and encouraged them to prioritize their education for a successful future.

The APSCW team also visited the Sudhar Ghar De-addiction Center at Bordumsa, managed by the RK Mossang Memorial Society. The center houses a dedicated team comprising a doctor, a counselor, three nurses, and supporting staff. The facility is well-equipped with essential infrastructure, including isolation rooms for managing communicable diseases.

Both the school and the de-addiction center reflect a collaborative effort toward empowering women and addressing critical social issues in the district. The visits highlight the importance of community involvement in promoting education, health, and welfare initiatives across the region.
