Training Program on Tuber Crops Held in Kanubari to Boost Self-Employment

KANUBARI, Feb 21: The Horticulture Department of Longding District, in collaboration with the Central Tuber Crops Research Institute (CTCRI), Thiruvananthapuram, successfully conducted a training program aimed at promoting self-employment and income generation among farmers and unemployed educated youth.

Held at the ADC Conference Hall in Kanubari, the event was also attended  by Gabriel D. Wangsu, Minister of Agriculture and Allied Departments, and Kunal Yadav, IAS, ADC of Kanubari.

During the program, Minister G.D. Wangsu highlighted the significance of tuber crops in improving livelihoods and encouraged farmers to explore sustainable agricultural practices for better income opportunities. The event witnessed the participation of approximately 500 farmers, eager to gain knowledge about modern farming techniques and profitable crop cultivation.

The training concluded on a successful note, with the organizers expressing gratitude to all participants. The farmers left the event feeling motivated and empowered to adopt tuber crop farming as a means of economic growth.

The training featured expert sessions by a team of distinguished scientists from ICAR-CTCRI, including Dr. G. Byju, Director; Dr. R. Muthuraj, Principal Scientist; Dr. D. Jaganathan, Senior Scientist; and Dr. P. Prakash, Scientist.
