NAMPONG, Mar 2: A one-day legal awareness program was successfully organized by the All Tangsa Women Welfare Society (ATWWS) in collaboration with the District Administration and sponsored by the Arunachal Pradesh State Commission for Women (APSCW) at the Committee Hall, Nampong.
The event was graced by APSCW Chairperson Smti Kenjum Pakam as the Chief Guest, who emphasized the importance of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) for economic self-sufficiency. She urged women to support each other in achieving social and economic upliftment, stressing that “Even small acts of kindness can have a significant impact, and helping others leads to personal fulfillment and achievement.”
Speaking on women’s rights and safety, Smti Pakam highlighted the importance of the Vishakha Guidelines in ensuring women’s safety at workplaces. She encouraged women to connect with One Stop Centers (OSC), local NGOs, and stakeholders to achieve the P3 mission—Protection, Preservation, and Promotion of women’s rights.
Guest of Honour, Mr. L. Thungon (APCS-SG), applauded ATWWS for its active role in combating drug abuse, noting a decline in drug addiction due to their efforts. He urged the public to work in coordination with stakeholders to fight the menace of drugs and explore economic opportunities by streamlining trade with border countries.

The program also featured insightful sessions from key speakers:
🔹 Smti Nabam Yahi (TAD) spoke on the role of APSCW and domestic violence.
🔹 Ms. Banner Tangha (CA, OSC) elaborated on the functions of One Stop Centers.
🔹 Smti Rucha Kimhun (CW, OSC Changlang) addressed domestic violence and sexual harassment.
🔹 OC Nampong discussed various women-related issues.

The event commenced with a welcome speech by ATWWS President Mrs. Phennem Tikhak and concluded with a vote of thanks by Mrs. Mossang.
Among the distinguished attendees were APSCW members Smti Kago T. Yassung, Smti Komna Moidam (Nani), and Smti Ngurang Nama.
With over 300 participants benefiting from the program, the event successfully empowered women with legal knowledge and support networks, reinforcing their role in social progress and economic development.
