Operation Dawn 2.0: Drug Peddler Arrested with 3.60 kg Cannabis in Naharlagun

NAHARLAGUN, Mar 27: In a major crackdown on drug trafficking under Operation Dawn 2.0, the Naharlagun Police arrested a drug peddler and seized 3.60 kg of cannabis during a raid conducted in A-Sector, Naharlagun.

Acting on credible intelligence, the police received information about an individual engaged in selling contraband drugs to addicted youths in the Itanagar Capital Region (ICR). Fearing that the suspect might flee or dispose of the contraband, a swift raid was launched by a police team led by Inspector Krishnendu Dev, OC Naharlagun PS, along with SI Vivek Linggi, HC Kanto Samyor, Ct T. Pertin, Ct T. Kagung, Ct D. Borah, and HC K. Mosi.

To ensure legal compliance, EAC Naharlagun, Shri Khoda Bath, APPS, was also present as a magistrate during the search operation.

The accused, identified as Indrajit Roy (56 years), a resident of Jamadar Base, Dinhata, Cooch Bihar, West Bengal, was found residing in a rented house in A-Sector, Naharlagun. A thorough search of the premises, conducted in the presence of the magistrate and independent witnesses, led to the recovery of 3.60 kg of cannabis.

Following the seizure, a case has been registered at Naharlagun Police Station (Case No. 41/25) under Section 20(b)(ii)(C) of the NDPS Act, and the accused has been taken into custody.

The successful operation was carried out under the supervision of SP ICR Naharlagun,  Mihin Gambo, IPS, and SDPO Naharlagun, DySP Rishi Longdo, as part of the relentless efforts to curb drug trafficking and protect the youth from substance abuse.
