Naharlagun Police Bust Two Major Interstate Drug Networks Under Operation Dawn 2.0

NAHARLAGUN, April 10: In a significant breakthrough in the ongoing fight against drug trafficking under Operation Dawn 2.0, the Naharlagun Police have dismantled two major interstate drug networks operating within the Capital Region. The coordinated operations led to the arrest of four drug peddlers, including three women, and the seizure of 53.13 grams of suspected heroin along with ₹1,25,000/- in cash.

On April 9, acting on credible intelligence, the police raided a residence in Nyigam Colony, Naharlagun, where a husband-wife duo was apprehended. The accused have been identified as  Rana Thapa (29) and Yami Rabo (25), residents of Gogamukh, Dhemaji, Assam. The raid resulted in the recovery of 25 plastic vials containing 28.73 grams of suspected heroin and ₹45,000/- in cash. A case has been registered under Naharlagun PS Case No. 50/25 under sections 21(b)/27/27A of the NDPS Act.

In another operation on April 8, the police conducted a raid at the residence of Smti. Dulena Begum (33) and Smti. Amirjan Begum (36) in Naharlagun. Both women, sisters and residents of Laluk, Assam, were arrested following the seizure of 24.4 grams of suspected heroin and ₹80,000/- in cash. A case has been registered under Naharlagun PS Case No. 49/25 under sections 31(b)/27/29 of the NDPS Act.

The operations were carried out by the Naharlagun Police team led by Inspector Krishnendu Dev, Officer-in-Charge, PS Naharlagun, along with SI Vivek Linggi, ASI Iter Ngomdir, and other personnel: HC Kanto Samyor, HC K. Mosi, HC P. Tari, Ct. D. Borah, L/Ct. R. Samyor, Ct. Doge Doke, Ct. I. Basar, Ct. T. Kagung, and Ct. Kalung Raja. The raids were conducted in the presence of Shri Khoda Bath, Executive Magistrate, Naharlagun, under the active supervision of SP Naharlagun Shri Mihin Gambo, IPS, and SDPO Shri Rishi Longdo.

Superintendent of Police Shri Mihin Gambo, IPS, applauded the committed efforts of the police team and reaffirmed his resolve to continue the crackdown on drug traffickers. “The drive against drug peddlers will persist with full force to safeguard our youth from the dangers of drug addiction,” he stated.
