Spear Corps Organises Mini-Marathon in Tato to Mark World Health Day

TATO, Apr 11: In a remarkable celebration of World Health Day, the Indian Army’s Spear Corps, in collaboration with North Eastern Electric Power Corporation (NEEPCO), organized a spirited 12-kilometre Mini-Marathon in the scenic hills of Tato, Shi Yomi district. Held along the picturesque Tato-Tagur-Trot route, the event bore the inspiring theme “Healthy Beginnings, Healthy Future.”

The marathon aimed to foster a culture of health and fitness in the remote region while promoting community spirit and civil-military goodwill. With enthusiastic participation from across the district, the event drew over 75 runners, including more than 30 women. The run featured a 12 km category for men and a 6 km category for women, targeting youth in the age group of 15 to 30 years.

Gracing the event were distinguished dignitaries such as the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Tato, the Additional Superintendent of Police, senior Army officials, and respected village elders, including Gaon Burahs from Tato. Their presence underlined the growing importance of physical well-being and the need to adopt fitness as a lifestyle choice.

Addressing the participants, the dignitaries emphasized the transformative power of regular physical activity and encouraged the youth to explore sports as a viable career path. The collaboration between NEEPCO and the Indian Army’s Spear Corps exemplifies a shared commitment to the holistic development of communities in remote northeastern regions.
