ITANAGAR, April 30: The Department of Animal Husbandry, Veterinary & Dairy Development has issued a strict directive to all District Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Officers (DAH&VOs) following reports that expired veterinary medicines were allegedly being used during the treatment of ailing livestock.
In an official order issued by the Director of the Department, officers have been explicitly warned that they will be held solely responsible for any adverse incidents occurring within their jurisdictions due to the administration of expired medicines.
“Such actions are likely to bring unnecessary controversy and may reflect poorly on the Department. Officers must ensure no expired medicine is issued or used,” the order stated.
The Director further directed that any expired medicines currently available in stock must be disposed of immediately. The disposal must be carried out by a properly constituted board and approved by the respective Deputy Commissioner to ensure transparency and procedural compliance.
All concerned officials have been asked to report the action taken in this regard to the Directorate without delay.
