Capital Police handed over 75 recovered lost mobile phones to rightful owners

ITANAGAR, April 30:  In a commendable display of public service and community engagement, the Itanagar Capital Police handed over 75 recovered lost mobile phones to their rightful owners during the 10th edition of SAMVAD, held at Chimpu on Tuesday. The initiative, part of the ongoing Police Ajin campaign, aims to enhance trust and cooperation between the police and the public.

The event was attended  by  MLA Itanagar  Techi Kaso, who applauded the Capital Police for their persistent and people-centric efforts in tracking and returning lost property.

“This gesture reflects the sincerity and efficiency of our police department. Their hard work is helping restore public faith in the system,” said MLA Kaso while addressing attendees.

Superintendent of Police f Itanagar Capital Region,  Rohit Rajbir Singh, IPS, along with SDPO  Kengo Dirchi, DySP(HQ) Chamrak Arun, and other senior officials, were present to oversee the handover ceremony.

The successful recovery operation was spearheaded by Inspector N. Nishant, Officer-in-Charge of Chimpu Police Station, and a dedicated team comprising HC Jerry Romin, HC Rili Tabri, Ct Dejum Ete, Ct Tai Lirak, Ct Tasser Tasso, Ct Rabin Singh, L/Ct Inya Gadi, and Ct Jeni Wangpan from the SP Office.

SP Singh praised the team for their commitment, stating “Our objective is not just to enforce the law, but to serve the people. Recovering and returning lost items like mobile phones might seem small, but it significantly impacts people’s lives and reflects our dedication to citizen welfare.”

According to police data, the Capital Police recovered over 300 mobile phones in 2024, and have already recovered 150 phones in 2025, underscoring a consistent effort in tackling such cases.
