21 vials of suspected heroin weighing approx 27.51 grams recovered

Nirjuli, April 30: As part of the continued drive against drug trafficking under Operation Dawn 2.0, a police team led by Inspector T.M. Nekam, Officer-in-Charge, Nirjuli Police Station, comprising Ct. Sonam Namgey, Ct. Hano Pai, Ct. Tamin Rai, L/Ct. T. Ngulom, and Ct. B. Newar, under the supervision of SP Naharlagun Shri Mihin Gambo, IPS, and SDPO Naharlagun Shri Rishi Longdo, conducted naka checking at Dikrong Colony on 28.04.2025 based on specific input.

During the checking, a scooty rider tried to flee but was promptly chased and intercepted at Midpu. The rider, identified as Tame Peter (23 years), resident of D-Sector, Nirjuli, was apprehended. Upon body search, 21 vials of suspected heroin weighing approximately 27.51 grams were recovered.

Accordingly, Nirjuli PS Case No. 42/25 under Section 21(b) of the NDPS Act has been registered, and the accused has been arrested. Further investigation is in progress.

SP Naharlagun Shri Mihin Gambo, IPS, lauded the Nirjuli Police team for their swift and effective response in nabbing the accused.
