Naharlagun, June 15: A devastating road accident claimed the lives of two teenagers on Sunday afternoon at Borum Bridge near Naharlagun. The incident, which occurred at around 1:18 PM, involved a high-impact collision between a scooty and a dumper truck.
Upon receiving the information, a police team from Naharlagun Police Station rushed to the accident site and promptly detained the driver of the dumper truck. The driver has been identified as Md Hasanur Islam, 22 years old, son of Jalfukar Ali, originally from Borbam Pathar village under Silonibari Post Office and Bihpuria Police Station in Lakhimpur district of Assam. He was reportedly residing at Helipad Colony in Naharlagun.
The collision resulted in the tragic and instant death of the two individuals riding the scooty. The deceased have been identified as Md Tanveer Khan, aged 18, a resident of Medawal village under Khalilabad Post Office and Bakira Police Station in Dhani district, Uttar Pradesh, and Md Sahil Alam, aged 17, from Baradi village under Kesariya Police Station in Motihari district of Bihar.

Following standard procedure, the bodies of both victims were transported to TRIHMS, Naharlagun, for medico-legal examination and necessary formalities. The scooty, bearing registration number AS-01BR-5103, and the dumper truck, bearing registration number AR-01R-0400, have been seized as part of the investigation.
The police have initiated further legal action, and an inquiry is underway to determine the exact cause and circumstances leading to the tragic mishap.
