BANDERDEWA,July 11: In a significant blow to the illegal drug trade, Banderdewa Police successfully intercepted and arrested two individuals transporting suspected NDPS contraband in the early hours of July 11.
The operation was launched after police received credible intelligence about narcotics being moved from Nagaon in Assam towards Banderdewa. Acting swiftly, a team led by SI Koj Tada, along with ASI S.K. Jha, H/Ct. T. Bomdom, and Ct. R. Tsering, conducted the operation under the close supervision of SDPO Naharlagun, Shri Rishi Longdo, and Inspector Kipa Hamak, Officer-in-Charge of Banderdewa Police Station.
The suspects were intercepted near Niya Colony in Banderdewa, where a meticulous search led to the recovery of two soap cases and four vials containing suspected NDPS substances, with a total weight of 27.72 grams. Following the seizure, a case was registered at Banderdewa Police Station under relevant sections of the NDPS Act and the BNS, and both accused were arrested. The arrested individuals have been identified as Azahar Hussain, 23, and Ismail Hogue, 30, both residents of Bhakatgaon, Nagaon district in Assam.
